At Aspire UK, high-quality care goes beyond the everyday, it includes clinical precision, deep empathy, and a commitment to continuous learning.

One of the people leading that charge is Marcia, our Clinical/Complex Care Lead Nurse. With a strong background in healthcare and education, Marcia brings a thoughtful, person-centred approach to supporting both clients and carers.
In this profile, Marcia shares what drew her to the care sector, how she supports those with complex needs and the lessons that continue to shape her journey. Her story is a reminder that great care is as much about kindness and understanding as it is about clinical skill.

What is your role at Aspire, and how long have you been with us?
I am the Clinical/Complex Care Lead Nurse for Aspire UK. I joined the team a few months ago and it has been a rewarding and transformative experience which has me applying my clinical expertise as a Clinical Educator for the company in line with current governance and regulatory processes.
What inspired you to start working in care?
The desire to help and make a positive impact in people’s lives within a supportive and collaborative environment.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Advocating on clients’ behalf and bringing innovative resolutions to teething problems allows clients to have the quality of life they deserve. Seeing my clients feel better after their health goals have been achieved is incredibly rewarding.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Aspire?
My favourite aspect of working at Aspire is the company’s culture of self-improvement. There is a sense of community within my colleagues, everyone is celebrated on special occasions such as birthdays. There is a great sense of team working, wellness programs such as free counselling, and senior management are approachable.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me involves responding to emails, preparing training materials, training carers on evidence-based up-to-date clinical skills, dealing with client queries, escalating and signposting to the relevant member of the multidisciplinary team for actioning, conflict resolution, clinical visits including health needs assessments and clinical competency checks, writing up care plans, and providing clinical support for carers as required.
What’s one thing people often misunderstand about complex care?
Complex care is not a one-size-fits-all. Every person has a unique health need and presentation differs. Care for complex clients has to be patient-centred and delivered in a holistic manner.
What’s something you’ve learned from one of your clients?
Being kind always, as you never know how your actions might impact other people’s lives.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in care?
It is a very rewarding career, but you need to be very patient, empathetic and resilient.
